The train trip, the Chama Limited from and return to Chama New Mexico (elevation 7,860’), is a beautiful ride through the mountains to Osier where you’ll disembarked for lunch and take in the high mountain air – 1,800’above Chama! Lunch is tasty and before boarding the train for your return trip to Chama you can have a nice stroll along the tracks. We were tickled to find some small lumps of coal that we brought home for Christmas stockings!
The original trains and tracks were constructed in 1880 as part of the Rio Grande’s narrow gauge San Jaun Extension and served the silver mining industry of southwestern Colorado. The recreational operation began in 1971.

Chama Train and Clouds Gallery Board is an original photographic print. Printed onto watercolour textured art boards creating a beautiful and professional finish, with the look and feel of the original from the San Juan Mountains, Colorado. Our lightweight boards are 1.8mm thick and sturdy enough to be propped up. Each board comes with four 3M velcro dots for easy application to display the boards on walls. They can also be repositioned easily.
