Death Comes for the Archbishop

This 1927 classic tells the story of a catholic bishop and a priest as they travel from Ohio to and through the New Mexico Territory to Santa Fe in the mid – 1800’s. Based on the life of Jean-Baptiste Lamy; the novel describes many historical events of the time including the construction of the cathedral of Santa Fe. This is an excellent book to read for those wanting a deeper understanding of the history of New Mexico.
