As the days lengthen and the ground warms here in the northern hemisphere, native and non-native flowers emerge quickly. Sometimes I see tulip flowers in the spring fully open and laden with snow – as they are one of the first blooms to appear. They are a flower full of promise, durable and familiar. Someone planned ahead. Tulips are in the Lilly family and the bulb must be
planted in the fall – after the soil cools and before the ground freezes. They are perennials and once the bulb is planted, you can enjoy the flowers for several years. You may need to protect the bulbs from squirrels at first, pack the soil down after planting and if necessary cover the area with a piece of hardware wire. Your efforts will be rewarded many times over. Enjoy the magic come spring. Spring Magic
